Warden of the Summer Figs was inspired by the quiet guardians that seem to inhabit old gardens and forgotten corners of grand houses. The heron stands watch among overflowing flowers, ripening figs, and treasured objects collected over time, calm and entirely unhurried.
There is a sense that nothing escapes his notice. He is neither owner nor visitor, but something in between; a patient custodian of the season itself. While summer drifts by in a blur of colour and abundance, the Warden remains at his post, keeping a gentle eye on all that grows, ripens, and eventually fades.
